Lately, I’ve been so focused on a project that I started for fun and has since turned into my first work of fiction that I want to publish. In all that time however, I’ve still be writing other things, short verses; poems; movie concepts; etc. So over the next few days I figure I will release some of these here on the blog. To those that follow me on Facebook, these will most likely be rehashes but hey, you can read them again, right?!? RIGHT?!? Enjoy!!!
Generations
A generation lost
Nothing gained
No one fought.
Forefathers set us up
To make change
So they thought.
Complacent views abound
Movements made
Now they’re still.
What has been accomplished?
Is this all?
Where’s the will?
Our status has not changed
Fifty years
Still the same.
The ills that plagued us then
Live here now.
A shared pain.
A group without a lead
When we want,
And need more.
A role with few rewards.
Movements turn
Into a chore.
Sometimes I wish my voice
Carried weight.
Undenied.
Release this Little flame
Burning deep,
Deep inside.
The problems of this world
Go ignored,
Or replaced.
By meaningless pursuits
Each new day
Goes to waste.
The television shows
Both amuse
And divert
Reality away
From this pain
From the hurt
Reality of what
We live in
Day to day.
A land that has not grown
From wrongs of
Yesterday.
When will a stand be made?
Fight through peace
Or a brawl
Who will lead who will seek
To make change
For us all.
